Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring at least one year of dedicated CVICU experience and proficiency with Epic EMR.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Cardiovascular ICU within a Level 1 Trauma hospital setting
• Primary patient population includes critically ill cardiovascular patients
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 in a 36-bed unit
• Night shifts are 3x12 hours, 19:00 to 7:30
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• Required to float to other campuses within 15 miles, with priority to float given to travelers
• Care includes management of tele, drips, vents, arterial lines, sheaths, dialysis, and drawing ABGs
• Responsibilities include advanced monitoring and therapeutic procedures for critical cardiovascular patients
• First time travelers are welcome to apply
• Requests for time off must be submitted with initial application; additional RTO requests will not be accepted after offer
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives
• Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not accepted

Requirements

• Active RN license in Ohio or compact state, to be obtained prior to start if not already held
• Minimum 1 year of recent dedicated CVICU staff experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Ability to pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment before starting
• Experience with A-lines, ventilators, vasoactive drips, sheaths, dialysis, and arterial blood gas draws required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
