Otterbeck Builders Inc, a respected name in residential construction and remodeling, is seeking experienced Lead Carpenters to join our growing team. This role is hands-on and leadership-driven, perfect for a skilled carpenter ready to take ownership of projects, mentor others, and ensure quality craftsmanship on every jobsite. With a focus on whole house renovations/remodeling including additions/inlaw suites, the Lead Carpenter will be responsible for executing high-standard work while coordinating with the project team, clients and sub-contractors.

Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day jobsite operations for residential remodeling projects.
Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
Perform rough and finish carpentry work to high standards.
Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and team members.
Ensure jobsite safety, cleanliness, and proper material handling.
Maintain clear communication with the project manager and homeowners.
Maintain project documentation (blue books, punch lists, credit slips and timesheets).
Train and mentor apprentice carpenters and junior crew members.
Accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install wood and building materials.
Solve problems and make adjustments to maintain schedule and quality.
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of residential carpentry experience required.
Strong skills in both rough and finish carpentry.
Proven ability to manage jobsite workflows and teams effectively.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to read construction drawings and work independently.
Reliable, punctual, and committed to high-quality craftsmanship.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Good organizational skills and attention to details.
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable truck or van.
Must have all their own tools including power and hand tools.
No formal education or certifications required.
Must be able to pass drug screening if necessary.

Full-Time — Monday through Friday
Typical work hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (may vary slightly by project)
Location
Work is performed at residential job sites in the Capital Region of New York (primarily Albany, Rensselaer, and surrounding counties). Travel to job sites is required; transportation is not provided.
