The Surgical Tech (Ambulatory) works part-time in an Ambulatory Surgery Center, assisting in various surgical procedures including ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management, and urology. The role requires at least one year of surgical tech experience and prefers certification from an accredited program. Duties include supporting operating room functions, assisting with turnover, and performing cross-training tasks to ensure smooth ASC operations.
- Schedule: Part-time, 32 hours per week (eligible for full-time benefits!). Four 8 hour shifts per week, 6:30AM start time. Hours are typically 6:30A-3:15P with occasional late coverage as needed if a case is running over. M-F, no call, no weekends, no major holidays!

- Location: Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), 1730 Kernersville Medical Parkway, Kernersville, North Carolina
- Unit Info: Procedures range from opthalmology, ortho, pain management & urology cases.
- Requirements: At least 1 year of surg tech experience is required for this position. See additional qualifications below.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification please see additional skills required. Online Surgical Tech program credits will not be accepted.
- Experience: Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current Surgical Tech certification, preferred.
- Additional Skills (required): For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification the following additional requirements apply: new graduates must obtain certification within 12months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills.
- Additional Skills (preferred): One to two years of experience in sterile processing or equivalent training if assigned solely to sterile processing.
The ASC Surgical Technologist is expected to work in an operating suite for the center. The ASC Surgical Technologist is able to function as a team member in an ASC environment through cross-training to other primary areas, assisting with turnover, and all other aspects of day-to-day ASC operations.
