American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position specializing in cardiac care and requiring Epic proficiency and current NH or compact licensure.
Responsibilities- Work in a 31-bed adult primary cardiac unit with medical-surgical overflow
- Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with primary cardiac diagnoses and co-morbidities
- Common cases include pre and post cardiac catheterization, pacemaker and device insertion, stroke, atrial arrhythmias, MI, PE/DVT, and vascular patients
- Unit uses telemetry monitoring, Nihon Kohden Cardiac Monitoring System, and bedside cardiac monitoring systems
- Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6
- Night shifts are 4x12 hours, 7:00pm to 7:30am, including every other weekend
- Floating required to ICU, ED, and other Med/Tele units; may perform patient sitting
- EMR is Epic and experience with it is required
- Provide comprehensive and compassionate nursing care to adult patients with a cardiac and medical-surgical focus
- Utilize a team nursing and Helping Hands approach for patient assignments and floating
- Orientation is competency-based and required to serve the 4 East unit population
- Scrubs of any color are permitted
- Must be able to interpret a variety of cardiac rhythms, including life-threatening arrhythmias
- No first-time travelers accepted for this assignment
- Active NH or compact state RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience
- Current AHA or Red Cross certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skills needed include telemetry, central line management, peripheral IV insertion, post cardiac cath recovery, management of central lines, and feeding tubes
- Must pass a proctored telemetry exam on arrival involving rhythm analysis using calipers
- Unit does not consider first-time travelers
- Travelers who have been former employees at any SolutionHealth-associated facility are not eligible
- Professional references are required for consideration
- Travelers within 50 miles are accepted at a local rate
