Responsibilities include clinical oversight, utilization management, quality and disease management programs, and policy development, primarily remote during locums and hybrid once permanent. The position requires strong leadership, managed care experience, and knowledge of Medicaid regulations in Texas.

Start Date: As soon as Credentialed
Schedule: Monday Friday 8am 5pm
Assignment Length: 13 weeks (with expectation of transition to permanent role)
On-Call: None
Weekends: None
Are you a dedicated Board-Certified Family Medicine physician with strong managed care experience and a passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care? This Associate Medical Director role offers the opportunity to support clinical operations, utilization management, and quality initiatives while making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes across a health plan population.
This role is fully remote during the locum phase and transitions to a hybrid schedule upon permanent placement.
Key Responsibilities Review prior authorization & appeals requests
Conduct peer-to-peer consultations
Provide oversight for utilization, quality & disease management programs
Assist in pharmacy program oversight & coordination of care
Support fraud, waste & abuse program oversight
Analyze provider performance & participate in committee review
Assist in development of clinical policies & guidelines
Participate in organizational planning, education & outreach initiatives
Support continuous workflow & process improvement
Board Certification in Family Medicine (no exceptions)
Texas medical license (or willingness to obtain)
Experience in managed care & prior authorization
Understanding of Texas Medicaid regulations
Experience overseeing multidisciplinary care teams
Strong leadership, communication & organizational abilities
Ability to manage confidential information & remain calm under pressure
