Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Cardiovascular ICU position requiring cardiac and neuro experience, with an active SC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of an acute care hospital
- Night shifts, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), with every other weekend and holiday rotation required
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:2
- Patient population includes critical cardiac and neurological cases
- Floating within scope to like units as needed; agency nurses float first
- Uses Epic EMR system; prior Epic experience preferred
- Care for critically ill patients with complex cardiovascular and neuro conditions in a high-acuity ICU setting
- Royal blue scrubs required
- All required orientation modules must be completed pre-start (approximately 4 hours)
- Potential for emergency response team assignment during hurricane season (June–November)
- Holiday scheduling rotation applies
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with application; approval is based on facility needs
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license required prior to start
- Minimum 1 year CVICU experience required, with 2 years preferred
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required (AHA approved)
- Experience with both cardiac and neurological patient care required
- SSN and driver's license required for consideration
- Applicants must live more than 60 miles from the facility—local candidates not accepted
- Previous staff (including PRN) must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before eligible for travel positions
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
