Anesthesiology Physicians perform pre-operative evaluations, develop anesthetic plans, and administer anesthesia during outpatient surgical procedures. They monitor patients intra-operatively, adjusting anesthesia techniques and managing vital functions to ensure patient safety. Their role includes both direct anesthesia administration and supervision of anesthesia care.
Conduct pre-operative evaluation of patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures: review medical history, perform physical assessment, develop anesthetic plan, obtain informed consent.
Administer anesthesia (general, regional, MAC/monitored anesthesia care) and/or supervise anesthesia care as applicable in the outpatient setting.
Monitor patients intra-operatively, adjust anesthetic medications and techniques, manage airway, ventilation, hemodynamics, fluid status, and analgesia.
