This position seeks a Trauma / Acute Care Surgery & Surgical Critical Care Surgeon for an ACS-verified Level I Trauma Center in Palm Springs, CA, focusing on high-acuity patient care, education, and research. The role involves managing trauma, acute care surgery, and surgical ICU services, participating in trauma activations, surgeries, ICU coverage, and serving as teaching faculty for residency and fellowship programs. This opportunity is based at an ACS-verified Level ITrauma Center with a strong commitment to education, research, and high-acuitypatient care.
Program Overview
- ACS-Verified Level I Trauma Center
- 3,000+ anticipated annual trauma admissions
- 1,500+ anticipated annual Acute Care Surgery (ACS) admissions
- Full responsibility for Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical ICU services
- Integrated General Surgery Residency Program and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship
- High-acuity case mix with robust institutional and administrative support
- Strong academic infrastructure supporting education, quality improvement, and scholarly activity
Compensation: $ 540,000for around 9 shifts per month
Position Responsibilities & Academic Expectations
- Provide comprehensive care across Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care
- Manage critically ill trauma and surgical patients in a high-volume Surgical ICU
- Participate in trauma activations, operative trauma, emergency general surgery, and ICU coverage
- Serve as teaching faculty for the General Surgery Residency and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship
- Fulfill ACGME faculty responsibilities, including supervision, evaluation, didactics, and scholarly activity
- Participate in resident and fellow education, conferences, simulation, and Morbidity & Mortality (M&M)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to quality improvement, trauma performance improvement, and program development
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Trauma / Surgical Critical Care Fellowship preferred
- Candidates without fellowship training will be considered if they demonstrate:
- Current Level I Trauma Center experience
- Significant ICU and critical care expertise
- Eligible for California medical licensure
- Strong commitment to academic surgery, education, and collaborative, team-based care
