Job Description
The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and high-quality patient-centered care in the operating room. This role involves preparing and maintaining a sterile environment, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and managing instruments, supplies, and equipment throughout surgical procedures. The CST supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values while ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
Cases may include general surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, pain management, urology, and endoscopy.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures
- Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Anticipate surgeon needs and assist during procedures
- Ensure patient safety and adherence to infection control standards
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff
- Accurately document and follow procedural protocols
Requirements
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification
- NBSTSA (CST) or NCCT (TS-C) – Required
- Recent or current CST experience in a hospital or medical center – Required
- Experience in general surgery – Required
- Experience in orthopedics, podiatry, endoscopy, and urology – Highly Preferred
- Surgical Tech skills checklist completed within the past year – Required
- Prior travel experience – Highly Preferred
- BLS (AHA) – Required
- NH Medical Technician License (must apply upon offer acceptance)
