Duties include but are not limited to: Admission/discharge Treatment and professional direction of inpatient care Psychiatric consultations Rounds Attending treatment team meetings Mental Health Services include: Acute Inpatient Mental Health unit - 40 beds Consults to Acute Medicine/Surgery inpatient units Psychiatric Assessment in the emergency department Requirements: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine Licensed in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia (or be Board Certified/Eligible) to practice medicine or surgery BLS Certified The general assignment will be 5 days a week at the VAPAHCS Acute Inpatient Mental Health Units. The normal work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm (with a 1/2 hour non-paid lunch). POP: July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.
