American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Navigator with a current DC license and oncology or radiation medicine background.
Responsibilities- Position is based in a Radiation Medicine department in a hospital setting
- Primary patient population consists of adults undergoing cancer treatment, specifically radiation therapy
- Shifts rotate between 1300-2100 and 1200-2030, Monday through Friday
- Main duties include care management during outpatient radiation therapy visits
- Charting is completed using Cerner EMR
- Role includes patient education, wound care, toxicity assessment, and addressing social needs during radiation treatment
- Expected to respond to acute events such as anaphylaxis, ATLS, sepsis, and tracheostomy care
- Office duties include chart preparation, disability forms, pharmacy communication, and telephone triage
- Flu vaccine is required for all employees
- First two weeks require full availability; maximum of 7 days requested time off per 13-week contract is highly preferred
- Returning staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before applying as a traveler
- Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a different rate
- Active DC RN license required at the time of application
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
- At least one previous travel assignment completed; others may be screened individually
- Experience with central lines, implanted ports, IV starts, and acute oncology complications required
- Preferred experience in nurse navigator or coordinator role and radiation oncology
