American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Long Term Care (LTC) acute care position with day shifts and every other weekend requirements.
Responsibilities- Work in a Long Term Care (LTC) facility attached to a hospital
- Patient population includes convalescent long-term care, post-stroke, CHF, hospice, respite care, and insulin-dependent diabetes management
- Resident census is typically under 40 with potential for up to 59 beds
- RN/LPN staffing ratio of 1:20-25 during days, 1 nurse at night, and 2 during the day
- CNA support with a ratio of 1:10-12 during days and 3 CNAs at night
- Shift options include 12-hour days (0600-1830) and potentially other 8- or 12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend is required
- Will work 1-2 holidays per contract
- Use of PointClickCare (PCC) charting system
- Medication is dispensed via medication cart
- No vent or trach patients currently
- Minimal medication pass on nights
- Expect to care for a variety of long-term care residents, including post-stroke and hospice patients
- Morning blood glucose checks required for insulin-dependent diabetics
- Peripheral blood draws performed by phlebotomy staff, central line draws by floor nurses
- Charge nurses take a full patient load
- Full team support includes CNAs, ward clerk (day), Director of Nursing, PT/OT/ST during days, and hospitalist coverage 24/7
- Onsite orientation includes meeting with HR, meeting with DON, and two days working with a preceptor before working independently
- Scrub color may be any professional color
- Natural nails must not exceed 1/4 inch
- Free on-site parking is available
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Time off requests up to 7 days may be approved; longer time off or holiday time at the discretion of the DON
- Active Montana or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
- At least 1 year of RN experience required; LTC experience not required but must be emphasized
- Experience with long-term care, post-stroke, CHF, hospice, respite, and diabetes patients preferred
