Position Overview: We have an open locum tenens opportunity for a board-certified or board-eligible Gastroenterology Physician in a highly regarded healthcare facility in southern Illinois, near Ashley. This role involves inpatient, call-only coverage, providing critical support to the community and assisting the existing medical team with specialized care. Position Details: Location: Illinois (near Ashley) Start Date: ASAP End Date: Ongoing Schedule: Call-only coverage Holidays: Coverage includes major holidays (New Year s Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas) Requirements: Board Certification: Required; board eligibility also acceptable Fellowship Training: Required in Gastroenterology Illinois Medical License: Active and unrestricted, or eligible to apply Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Required BLS (Basic Life Support) Required Responsibilities: Inpatient Coverage: Hospital-based role with a mix of both general and specialized gastroenterology consults. Patient Volume: Approximately 10 patients per shift, with an average of 3 admissions. Rounding: Both inpatient rounding and admissions are required. Call Type: Beeper call with a 30-minute response time.
