American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with Med/Surg Telemetry skills and a current ND or compact RN license for night shifts in an acute care setting.
Responsibilities- Position is in an acute care Critical Access Hospital (CAH) on a Med/Tele/Swing unit
- Patient population includes acute and swing bed cases such as pneumonia, rehab, COPD, CHF, pancreatitis, and GI bleed
- Unit includes 19 beds with nurse to patient ratios of 1:3-6
- Required to read own telemetry strips using Mindray monitors
- Mandatory night shifts with 12-hour shift lengths
- Schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday
- Floating is required to Med/Tele Acute/Obs/Swingbed units with travelers as first to float
- Uses the Meditech EMR system
- CNAs provide support with personal care, vitals, and weights
- RNs set up and manage BiPap, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula equipment
- Role includes participation as part of the code team
- Strong teamwork and a positive work culture are emphasized on this unit
- Must provide professional references including one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
- Travelers are welcome; previous travel experience not required
- Personal scrubs are required and can be any color
- Orientation consists of 3-4 unit-specific 12-hour shifts
- Up to 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract
- No call or standby required
- Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required
- Minimum of 1 year recent RN experience in medical or telemetry settings
- Experience with IV starts, telemetry, NG, and foley catheter insertion
- Competence required in setting up BiPap, CPAP, and HFNC devices
- Must read own tele strips
- Experience with Meditech EMR is preferred
- Candidates may not have been employed (full/part time or PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Driver’s license required for consideration
