This PRN Registered Nurse position focuses on Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum care at Mercy Hospital South, requiring compassionate, patient-centered nursing during night shifts. Responsibilities include providing direct patient care, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining patient confidentiality while following professional and organizational standards. Candidates must have an RN license, relevant nursing education, and certifications such as BLS, with additional unit-specific certifications preferred or required.

Status: PRN (As Needed)
Shift: Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Overview:
Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
Licensure:
- Must hold and maintain a current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure as applicable
- Responsible for meeting all State Board of Nursing requirements
Experience:
- Previous nursing experience preferred (unit-specific requirements may apply)
Certifications:
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (or within 30 days of hire)
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit or obtained within department timeframe:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPHON (Certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse)
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
- S.T.A.B.L.E. Program
- C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification)
- Other unit-specific certifications as required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed
