American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN for a neuroscience progressive care unit night shift assignment, requiring a SC or compact RN license and previous stepdown experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a Level I Trauma Center and teaching facility
- Patient ratios are 1:3 to 1:4 based on acuity
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
- Holidays may be required as part of the schedule
- Required to work 4-5 weekend shifts within a 4 week period
- No on-call requirement
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected
- Documentation is completed using Epic EMR
- Role involves specialized care for neuroscience patients in a progressive care environment
- RNs must follow an attendance policy similar to permanent staff, including makeup shifts for weekend callouts
- Solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms is the required scrub attire
- Parking requires a permit from the management office with a one-time registration fee
- Module-based training must be completed online prior to start
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Holiday coverage may be required
- RTO of 7 days or less (excluding holidays) is generally acceptable; more extensive requests or holiday RTO require approval
- Local candidates within a 60-mile radius may be considered case by case
- Active South Carolina or multistate compact RN license required
- Minimum of 1 year PCU or stepdown experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA only)
- Experience in a neuroscience or stepdown hospital setting preferred
- Submission of Social Security card and driver’s license required for consideration
- Previous permanent staff, including PRN, must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year
