Staff Attorney – Housing Law (Hybrid, Bronx, NY)
Salary: $94,500 – $118,000 (DOE)
Schedule: Hybrid; minimum one day on-site; all court appearances in person
A respected Bronx-based nonprofit organization is seeking a Staff Attorney to provide legal representation and advocacy to low-income tenants facing eviction. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to housing justice and experience with litigation or landlord-tenant law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent tenants in non-payment and holdover proceedings in Bronx County Court.
- Handle litigation before administrative agencies as needed.
- Counsel clients to maintain housing stability and access benefits.
- Draft legal documents including motions and orders to show cause.
- Conduct community outreach, workshops, and trainings.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience; trial or landlord-tenant experience preferred.
- Familiarity with NYC housing law and public benefits.
- Strong writing, advocacy, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage a full caseload.
- Fluency in Spanish preferred.
