Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift role requiring 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience and a compact or NC RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 26-bed Surgical Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes bariatric surgery, urology, general post-op, abdominal surgeries, medical telemetry overflow, and various surgical cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am with every other weekend required
- Must float between all units within scope and across the region as needed, including multiple hospital facilities
- Uses Epic for EMR documentation, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- No on-call requirements
- Provide nursing care for post-surgical and medical telemetry patients
- Support staff includes CNAs, a receptionist, HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivist coverage
- Orientation includes facility onboarding and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are required to work 75% of holidays and can request up to 6 days of RTO, not including holidays
- Scrub color is navy
- Free parking available
- Teamwork is emphasized as part of the unit culture
- First-time travelers are considered but not preferred
Requirements
- Active NC or compact state RN license required
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and cardiac drip management skills required
- Experience with general Med/Tele skills including trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, and drain/tube management
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered
