Job Description:
Join Advocate Christ Medical Center as an Interventional Radiology (IR) Technician and play a vital role in a dynamic, high-volume surgical environment. You will support a state-of-the-art hybrid operating room dedicated to vascular, cardiac, and specialty procedures. The IR Tech provides essential technical assistance and patient monitoring for a variety of complex cases, ensuring high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with intraoperative imaging procedures in the hybrid OR, supporting 5-10 cases daily, focusing on adult patients.
- Prepare and operate Siemens imaging equipment, demonstrating expertise and safety.
- Support a wide range of procedures including TAVR, AAA repairs, endarterectomies, angiograms, fistula revisions, and other vascular and general cases.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including anesthesiologists, surgeons, resource nurses, educators, and service line reps, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Monitor patients closely, providing bedside support under anesthesiologist supervision.
- Maintain accuracy in documentation and charting, serving as an EPIC super-user.
- Assist with patient care activities during weekends and evenings as needed.
Qualifications:
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years in hybrid IR procedures, with a focus on vascular and cardiac cases.
- Cath lab experience is essential.
- Previous involvement in outpatient, inpatient, and trauma settings preferred.
- Patient Types Handled:
- Outpatient and inpatient vascular and general interventions.
- Trauma cases including GSWs and stabbings.
- Transplant cases (kidney, heart).
- Pediatric cases (~20%), such as appendectomies and cholecystectomies.
- No liver or lung transplant experience required.
- Participation in “Gifts of Hope” donor procedures.
Support on Unit:
- Charge nurses do not have patient assignments (Monday-Friday); support on weekends and evenings available.
- Bedside monitoring by anesthesiologists.
- Support staff include resource nurses, surgeons with specific preference cards, ANMs, educators, service line reps, and Epic super-users.
Equipment and Facility:
- Experience with Siemens imaging equipment is required.
- Provided scrubs in designated colors.
- Free parking available on-site.

Preferred Education & Experience:
- Radiologic Technology degree or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of specialized IR tech experience in hybrid operating rooms.
- Prior work in acute care, trauma, or transplant settings highly advantageous.
