The Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive medical care to patients in a rural hospital emergency department, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under physician supervision. This full-time role involves varied 24- and 36-hour shifts, treating patients across all age groups and managing patient care plans. Exceptional rural hospital is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to provide health care services to patients in their Emergency Department in east central Montana.
Shifts: 24-hour and 36-hour shifts. The 24-hour shifts typically start at 10:00 and the 36-hour shifts start at 22:00. In a month each provider works the equivalent of seven 24-hour shifts. This can be a combination of 24-hour shifts and 36-hour shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Provide health care services to patients in the Emergency Department (ED) with guidance/supervision as needed from Hospitalist physician on duty
- Examines patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes diagnosis.
- Administers and orders diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and blood work; interprets test results.
- Performs therapeutic procedures in accordance with the medical staff privileges granted to them and approved by the organizational standards and licensure.
- Exercises professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.
- Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs, and counsels patients, and records progress.
- Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and organizational regulations.
- Maintain certifications necessary to provide care in the emergency and urgent care settings, as defined by medical staff credentialling.
- Must be comfortable dealing with all age groups including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
