The Pediatric Hospitalist Physician role involves providing inpatient pediatric care and emergency department consultations in a 24-hour call setting at a medical center in Oregon. Responsibilities include rounding on pediatric and newborn patients, stabilizing critically ill patients, and offering emergency response within a 15-minute timeframe. Candidates must be Board Certified or Eligible in Pediatrics with recent experience in neonatal and pediatric critical procedures and hold an active Oregon medical license and DEA registration.
Compensation Highlights (Rate Caps)
This position features a highly competitive, lucrative compensation structure where malpractice is included in the rates.
24-Hour Daily Call Rate:$3,500 (This includes 4 hours of gratis clinical work per 24-hour period.)
24-Hour Holiday Call Rate:$5,250 (This also includes 4 hours of gratis clinical work.)
Call Back Hourly Rate:$285.00 (Applies to patient contact hours after the 4 gratis hours are completed.)
Holiday Call Back Hourly Rate:$427.50 (Applies to patient contact hours after the 4 gratis hours are completed.)
Orientation/Training Hourly Rate:$142.50 (Kicks in after 8 hours of initial orientation/training.)
The final 24-hour call rate will depend on the actual callback hours submitted.
Clinical Setting & ResponsibilitiesThis is an Inpatient setting with a 24-hour call schedule (7am - 7am), including an estimated 5-6 hours of clinical care per day (averaging 8 hours rounding).
Location: Family Birth Center, Level II Nursery, Level I Nursery, and Emergency Department (ED).
Low Volume: The facility manages a 6-bed Peds Unit with an average census of 1-2 pediatric patients and handles 4-6 newborns per day.
Key Duties:
Attending Physician for Inpatient Pediatrics and ED Consults.
Rounding on inpatient peds and newborns.
Stabilize and transfer critically ill patients (support is provided by PeaceHealth Neonatology in Eugene, OR).
Call Requirements: 15-minute in-person response time for emergencies (e.g., neonatal resuscitations) when not in the facility.
Procedures:Circumcisions are NOT performed. Delivery attendance is limited to high-risk deliveries only (infrequent).
EMR: Patient Keeper (interface with Meditech).
Licensure: Active Oregon (OR) License and DEA required.
Certification:Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics required.
Recent Experience (Must have 2 in the last 24 months): The candidate must be proficient in:
Endotracheal Intubations / Ventilator Management
Neonatal Resuscitation / Care of Newborns
Spinal Tap / Lumbar Puncture
Umbilical Line Placement
