Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1780 - $1910
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 6, 2025 (or October 20, 2025)
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Renal Stepdown Unit (Stepdown)
• Shift: 12-hour days (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed (option for 48 upon request)
• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Three weekends per six-week schedule; every other holiday
• Floating: May float to nearby campuses (with notice); first to float within skillset
• Orientation: 12 hours
• Location: Evansville, Indiana 47710

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing required
• Active, unencumbered compact RN license (Indiana or compact state)
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Minimum 3 years of recent Cardiac/Telemetry RN experience
• At least 2 prior travel nursing assignments
• Trauma Level II hospital experience
• Recent EPIC charting experience (checkoff required)
• Ability to pass Telemetry and 12-lead EKG interpretation tests
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Resilient, adaptable, and a collaborative team player
• COVID-19 vaccine not required (subject to change)
• No local candidates (must reside outside a 40-mile radius of Evansville, IN)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients with complex and high-acuity needs
• Interpret and monitor telemetry and 12-lead EKGs
• Initiate and titrate intravenous drips (antiarrhythmics, heparin, etc.)
• Perform PIV insertions; manage chest tubes and indwelling drains
• Care for patients with CHF, COPD, sepsis, post-ablation, dialysis, and other cardiac conditions
• Float to other hospital units or campuses as needed within your clinical skillset
• Precept nursing students and new hires in a teaching hospital environment
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health records
• Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
