This position is responsible and accountable for health stabilization, promotion and maintenance of acute and chronic cardiac illness or injury under the supervision of a physician. Physician Assistant's (PA's) are expected to participate in evidenced based clinical practice, clinical research, and ongoing innovative education and shared governance throughout the organization.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Performs admission history and physicals. Evaluates health condition of patient prior to surgery. Evaluates and clarifies clinical conditions. Orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Formulates and implements treatment and therapeutic plans for hospitalized patients.
- Assist surgeons in the OR by performing first assist surgical duties. Ensures all appropriate data is available for review by the surgeon. Assists other OR personnel in the positioning of the patient and proper prep for the surgical field.
- Monitors transport of patient to CVICU or PICU as needed.
- Participates in call rotation. Conducts daily hospital rounds. Write orders and progress notes.
- Sees patients on assigned clinic days. Performs and documents complete medical history and physical exam of patients. Formulates a list of aliments from this information, coupled with any available diagnostic tests and imaging studies. Prepare preliminary therapeutic plan and presents to attending physician for collaboration and approval of final plan.
- Serves as an advocate for the needs of the children and their families across the health care continuum ensuring the best patient/family experience and advancing pediatric health throughout the community we serve.
- Ability to work as a team with the other APPs and cover all cases when needed.
Qualifications:
• Clinical Master's Degree as a Physician Assistant or Master's degree with a Physician Assistant Certificate or Bachelor's of Science in Physician Assistant with National Certification or Nurse Practitioner with RNFA certification.
• 3 years minimum experience as a Surgical First Assist.
• Current Florida State Licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
• Current BLS and PALS.
• Ability to work as a team with the other APPs and cover all cases when needed.

Salary Range: Minimum 50.51/hour - Maximum 78.28/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
