See offer email for details ***PRIOR TO SIGNING THE CONTRACT, THE DYS EXAM THROUGH UNA IS REQUIRED AND MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 24-48 HRS. IT’S PASS OR FAIL AND THEY GET 2 ATTEMPTS (TEST A SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FIRST, TEST B SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FOR THE RETAKE). A SCREENSHOT SHOWING THE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS IS REQUIRED. **We can accept a Dys exam within the last 12mo if the traveler has previously taken** If your traveler fails the 2nd attempt, they will be made DNU for CommonSpirit AZ and Sac Unit RICU possible float to CSICU (Cardiac skill preferred, but if not held will only operate within scope) # Beds 11 MICU Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:1-2 Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS Common diagnoses/Types of patients ARDS, Sepsis, Chronic vent, ETOH withdrawal, DKA, CRRT, therapeutic hypothermia, IABP. Line placements and intubations are common. Experience or 'Must have' skills CRRT experience preferred (Next Stage). Per email from Suzanne, Doesn't need extensive CVICU experience, however, unit prefers to have someone with cardiac skill. Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips Vasoactive Medications, Sedation Medications, Heparin, Insulin Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Charge Nurse or Nurse Shift Manager; Generally does not take patients. 4 Nurse Shift managers on staff. Relief charges 1 shift per week. Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios Yes, only as Safety Attendants (sitters). Primary Nursing. Hospitalist or Intensivist in house Both 24/7 RT in ICU 24/7 Not in ICU but RT In house 24/7. RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Vents (Drager, Hamilton), CPAP, BIPAP Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Yes- during the day, Nurses must be able to read and interpret EKG strips. Phillips monitors. Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 12 hr shifts. Shift 645-1915 or 1845-0715. Report is at the bedside. OT and extra shifts are available. Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it. Schedules are out 4 weeks. Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff. Block scheduling is generally not available. Weekend Requirements Every other weekend Holiday Requirements Rotate in with core staff Is there a call or standby requirement? No Floating Requirements May float to CSICU-only operate within scope and all critical care like units. To all 5 Sacramento facilities- see details on General Info page. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen. Travelers are first to float. Scrub Color/Dress Code Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy. Unit/Department specific orientation 2 shifts in Medical ICU. 1 shift in Trauma, Neuro, and Surgical ICUs. Additional Notes Pharmacy in house 24/7. ICU Pharmacy open during day shift.
