The Machine Operator on the 2nd shift is responsible for operating, setting up, and feeding machinery in a manufacturing facility while maintaining safety and efficiency standards. The role involves teamwork to optimize productivity, reduce downtime, and ensure adherence to safety protocols like lock-out tag-out and 5S standards. Candidates must have at least three years of experience in a manufacturing environment, be physically capable of manual tasks, and willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
We are seeking Machine Operator applicants on 2nd shift (1 Opening) in our Akron, OH facility. The salary range is $20.62 - $26.18 per hour + shift differential.
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a team in support of a manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity; decreasing downtime and waste.
- Setup, operation, feeding of machinery and stacking of boxes.
- Assume active role in overall plant and facilities-related work.
- Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures.
- Maintain shop and shop equipment per 5S Standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- May be required to stack parts up to 30 lbs. for a period of up to 12 hours.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3 yrs previous experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Able to pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Must be able to sit, stoop, and bend.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Must be able to work the 2nd shift
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Be passionate about maintaining a safe work environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be willing to work closely on a day-to-day basis with other production personnel.
- Ability to share ideas with others to solve problems of essential importance.
- Thrive in a cross-functional team environment.
- Work with a sense of urgency to reduce downtime of machines. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
