American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in a Level I Trauma Center with critical care and Phase I PACU experience.
Responsibilities- Work in the PACU of a short-term acute care hospital
- Level I Trauma Center with Magnet and teaching hospital designation
- Care for adult, geriatric, and occasional adolescent post-surgical patients
- Procedures include neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant
- No open heart or liver transplant recovery cases
- 38 patient bays with an average daily census of 70-90
- Day shift 4x10s, Monday through Friday with rotating start times
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- Floating required only within PACU or PreOp units
- Unit supported by its own PCT/transport team
- Uses EPIC charting system; EPIC experience required
- Provide specialized recovery care for a broad range of acute post-surgical patients
- No local candidates allowed within a 75-mile radius
- Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract; no time off allowed during the first week
- Permanent employees must wait one year before returning as travelers
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Facial hair must comply with fit testing requirements
- Holiday coverage not required
- Mandatory orientation modules must be completed prior to start
- Active MO or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of critical care and inpatient nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Phase I PACU experience required
- Skills required: dysrhythmia recognition and management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
- Experience caring for patients in a Level I Trauma Center required
- Experience with EPIC EMR required
- Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Pending license accepted if approved by specified guidelines
