Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a qualified Locum Physician in Gastroenterology to deliver essential care within a hospital setting. This locum position involves weekend on-call coverage, primarily from Friday at 5 p.m. to Monday at 7 a.m., ensuring continuous patient support. The role includes outpatient gastroenterology and internal medicine responsibilities, with procedures such as endoscopies, colonoscopies, esophageal dilations, biopsies, and advanced diagnostics like EUS and ERCP. Required Skills:

• Proven clinical proficiency in adult gastroenterology procedures
• Experience performing endoscopies, colonoscopies, esophageal dilatation, and biopsies
• Ability to interpret esophageal manometry and manage related procedures
• Familiarity with ERCP, EUS, and liver biopsies
• Strong knowledge of hospital-based outpatient care and internal medicine
• Excellent communication and patient management skills
• Proficiency with Epic EMR system

Nice to Have Skills:

• Prior experience in a hospital call setting
• Knowledge of advanced endoscopic techniques
• Ability to perform foreign body removal and variceal banding
• Comfortable leading procedural interventions independently

Preferred Education and Experience:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Minimum of 2 years post-training clinical experience in gastroenterology
• Valid medical licensure in Virginia or eligible for licensure

Other Requirements:

• Availability for weekend on-call shifts, including entire 24-hour periods on Fridays through Mondays
• Credentialing period approximately 90 days
• Certification in ACLS and BLS
• Must adhere to all hospital credentialing and compliance standards
• Ability to travel and stay overnight, with lodging reimbursement up to $150 per night (standard/economy bookings only)
