This 20-bed PCU/cardiac unit is staffed by experienced RNs and PCTs on both shifts with charge coverage and an estimated 1:4 ratio. Nurses use Meditech and manage a high-acuity telemetry population with equipment including transport monitors, trachs, BiPAP/CPAP, heated high-flow, chest tubes, pacers/pacer wires, feeding pumps, suction, and IV pumps. ACLS is required, along with strong PCU/cardiac experience and comfort managing common cardiac/critical drips (e.g., heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro, Lasix, ketamine) and procedures such as 12-lead EKGs, chest tube management, and pacer wire removal.
