American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in an acute care setting with rotating shifts and titration of drips required.
Responsibilities- Work in a 20-bed Medical Surgical unit within an acute care critical access hospital
- Patient population includes CHF, sepsis, CIWA, shortness of breath, and chest pain
- Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:5-6
- Care for patients requiring titration of Heparin drips
- RN will use Meditech EMR
- Assignment is 13 weeks with 12-hour rotating day/night shifts, mostly nights
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage as needed
- First to float to ER, OB, or ICU, may take patient assignment in ICU if patient is ready to downgrade
- Charge nurse present on each shift, taking patient assignments on nights
- CPAP and high flow oxygen devices are used; RT support is on-call overnight
- Caribbean Blue scrubs required
- Responsible for providing Med/Surg nursing care, including managing titratable drips and troubleshooting CPAP and high flow devices
- Collaboration with a CNA per shift based on census; CNA may float if census is low
- Two to three shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
- Block scheduling may be offered based on unit needs
- No self-scheduling available
- First time travelers will be considered
- Must wear Caribbean Blue scrubs as dress code
- Active ND or compact RN license required at the time of consideration, pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Experience with titrating IV drips and Meditech EMR preferred
- Must provide a copy of driver’s license
- Two professional references required, including one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
- Candidates may not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past 12 months
- Must reside at least 50 miles from facility
- All requested RTO must be provided upfront and additional RTO will not be approved
