Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring strong independent skills and a NH or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes a variety of critical care cases; CVICU experience is highly valued
• Shift schedule is 12-hour nights, with shifts on weekdays and every other weekend
• Floating may be required to the Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Med Surg with modified assignments
• Use of advanced equipment such as balloon pumps, CRRT, Impella, ICP monitoring, artic sun/TTM, Alaris pumps, and rapid infuser
• Cerner EMR experience is preferred but not required
• Responsible for delivering critical care to ICU patients, including advanced cardiac and neuro monitoring
• Expected to manage a variety of care situations and perform efficiently in high-acuity cases
• Team may require support in other units with modified assignments when floating
• Weekly orientation is provided for all new travelers
• Permanent staff may return as travelers after a 12-month break in service
• Three professional references (two from leadership) are required if committed to the position
• Candidates living within 50 miles are accepted at a local rate
• RTO (requested time off) must be included at the time of application

Requirements

• Active NH or compact RN license required at time of consideration; temporary licenses not accepted
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS required
• 2-3 years of recent ICU experience required; candidates with closer to 2 years must demonstrate strong skills and independence
• References required from two recent charge or manager RNs in the ICU specialty
• Skills checklist matching ICU specialty is required
• Valid driver’s license with address matching demographics required
• Preferred certifications include TNCC, PALS, and CCRN
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Not accepting first-time travelers
