Position Overview:
Join Atrium Health Navicent as an Interventional Radiology Technician and play a vital role in delivering high-quality, diagnostic and interventional imaging services. You will operate advanced angiographic equipment, assist in complex procedures, monitor patient safety, and ensure accurate imaging and documentation. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate angiographic and digital imaging equipment to perform diagnostic procedures such as biopsies, thoracentesis, abscess drainages, vascular stenting, catheter placements, thrombolytic therapy, and embolizations.
- Assist as a scrub technician during interventional and surgical procedures, working closely with physicians and residents.
- Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to any life-threatening changes, including performing CPR and defibrillation when necessary.
- Identify, process, and ensure the quality of diagnostic images, assisting in equipment evaluation and maintenance to ensure optimal image integrity.
- Accurately interpret physician requisitions and orders to ensure correct procedures are performed.
- Post-process and label images with patient details such as name, MRU number, and scan location, maintaining meticulous documentation standards.
- Enter patient and procedural data into the radiology information system and ensure billing codes reflect the services provided for precise charge capturing.
- Perform patient positioning, transportation, and basic lifting tasks using proper ergonomic techniques.
- Demonstrate proficiency in caring for patients across all age groups, recognizing age-specific needs and delivering appropriate care accordingly.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin
- Registered Technologist (RT) registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (must be obtained within 6 months of hire unless deemed unnecessary by department leadership)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in basic radiologic positioning and techniques.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety and aseptic procedures.
- Knowledge of vascular and cerebral anatomy is preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients, and team members.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize effectively.
- Intermediate computer skills to navigate imaging and hospital information systems.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach overhead, and twist frequently during shifts.
- Lift up to 50 lbs from the floor to waist, 20 lbs overhead, and carry up to 40 lbs over reasonable distances.
- Push and pull with up to 30 lbs of force, and perform sliding transfers of up to 150 lbs with assistance.
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids—appropriate PPE will be provided.
- Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing to operate equipment and communicate effectively.
