This position is for a permanent neurosurgeon specializing in spine surgery with a premier Nevada-based neurosurgery and orthopedic group. The role involves a balanced schedule of clinic and surgical days, managing trauma call along with collaboration with PAs to optimize patient care efficiency. The practice focuses on minimally invasive spine surgeries with high surgical volume, serving the Carson/Tahoe region and addressing growing patient demand.
Nevada Neurosurgery Spine Opportunity Nevada s premier spine, neurosurgery, orthopedic, vein & neurology specialty group 62 MD/APP, 27 PT/OT Call Schedules Trauma call (with 2 nd call), practice neurosx call. Weekend and total call days distributed evenly amongst active call surgeons Hospital/ practice call are primarily fielded by neurosurgery Pas and escalated to surgeons as needed Trauma call primarily goes directly to surgeon on call and they decide if they need to go into the OR Fellowship training preferred but with strong residency program not required Standard clinic day is 12-16 patients per day depending on new patients vs follow ups Neurosurgeons work closely with neurosurgery PAs who primarily work the patients up to maximize surgeon time and efficiency Volume Organizationally all spine surgeons did 1600 cases in 2024 with neurosurgeons averaging 350 cases. Currently they have 2 ortho spine MDs with one looking to retire and one also doing general ortho. Plan is to move to neurosurgeons as we move forward with the ability to also take neurosurgery call Cases Performed Dependent on surgeon but typically 75-80% MIS, 20-25% complex <5% cranial unless a surgeon specifically drives cranial volumes Standard practice referrals are split evenly across surgeons Direct surgeon referrals go to that surgeon/dedicated PA Standard schedule is 3 days in clinic, 2 days surgical. A busy surgeon can do 2 days clinic with additional PA support and 3 days surgery Ideally our surgeons try to hit 30 surgeries per month Workload is split evenly between neurosurgeons Growing patient demand specifically in the Carson/Tahoe region Backfilling 1 departing neurosurgeon wh
