The GI Technician manages administrative and clinical responsibilities in the gastro-intestinal procedure room, assisting physicians with endoscopic and bronchoscopy procedures. They ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of technical work and patient post-procedure care while handling supplies and equipment properly. Required qualifications include a high school diploma, specific procedural experience, completion of SGNA Associates Program, and current BLS certification.
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the administrative and clinical duties of the Gastro-Intestinal procedure room and assists physicians in all types of general endoscopic procedures, G.I. function diagnostic tests and all bronchoscopy procedures. Ensures quality, efficiency and safety in the performance of technical work, the immediate post-procedure care of patients and in the proper handling of supplies and equipment
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent is required. 1 year of general endoscopy and a minimum of 6 months in bronchoscopy experience is required. Must pass the SGNA Associates Program online course within 6 months of hire or transfer. Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card
