American Traveler is seeking an experienced Critical Care Float RN for a night shift ICU position requiring a MO or compact RN license and strong independence in multiple specialty areas.
Responsibilities- Work in a short-term acute care hospital as an ICU float nurse
- Float to various ICUs including Trauma, Oncology, Cardiac/Heart and Vascular, Neurology, Medicine, and COVID units
- May float to inpatient non-critical care floors such as Oncology, Neurology, Med Surg, and Medicine if ICU census is low
- ICU patient ratio is 2:1 for all shifts; inpatient floor ratio is up to 1:3
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours: 18:45–07:15), every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, plus holiday rotation
- Required to float and may serve as patient sitter if needed
- Utilizes EPIC EMR system; previous EPIC experience strongly preferred
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Will be responsible for delivering high-acuity care to a varied ICU patient population and supporting med-surg and specialty units as needed
- Must be able to work independently and adapt to different ICU specialties
- Holiday rotation is required; specific RTO rules allow up to 7 days per contract (no RTO in the first week of orientation)
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may remain for up to 18 months with a 3-month break required after this period
- Free parking available on site
- Active MO or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required
- At least 1 year of CVICU experience is beneficial
- Proficiency in vents, IV starts, telemetry, and conscious sedation required
- Experience with EPIC EMR strongly preferred
- First-time travelers will not be considered
- Preferred skills include hemodynamic interpretation, Swans, IABP, Impella, ECMO, vasoactive drips, CRRT, chemo, CCRN, NIH, ONS, TNCC, CPI, triage, ICP, PA lines, and Level 1 Trauma
- Applicants must reside more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
