American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit night shift, requiring an AZ or compact RN license and proficiency with basic telemetry strips.
Responsibilities- Position is in an acute care hospital on a 48-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit serving surgical, neuro, and telemetry patients
- Patient population includes COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, telemetry, TIA, CVA, general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical cases
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- Self-scheduling used pending final manager approval
- May float to East Campus and PCU if qualified
- Uses Cerner EMR, with experience recommended
- No on-call or standby requirements
- RNs are responsible for interpreting and signing telemetry strips at least once per shift
- Unit equipment includes Bipap, Cpap, high flow oxygen, and administration of set-rate drips such as diltiazem
- Charge nurses do not take patient assignments; nurse aides available at a ratio of 1:10-15
- Unit-specific orientation consists of one shift
- Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam and a sterile technique test on orientation day
- Failure to pass clinical testing on a second attempt results in disqualification for six months
- Holiday coverage required for Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving (specific day/evening combinations)
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Travelers may not have been employed by any CommonSpirit (including CHI/Dignity) facility within the last year
- Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility for eligibility
- Active AZ or compact RN license must be in hand at the time of application
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (no pending certs accepted)
- Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips is required
- Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA is required
- Experience with Cerner EMR is recommended due to limited orientation
- Must provide a copy of a valid driver's license for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months, one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
