Specialty: Interventional Radiology (IR) RN
Department: Interventional Radiology (with IR-specific cases in Cath Lab when needed)
Shift: 12-hour shifts
- Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Nights: 7:00 PM start times
- Lunch: 1 hour
- Breaks: 2 × 15 minutes
Call Requirements: No call (weekdays, weekends, holidays)
Staffing:
- 1 IR suite/lab
- Cath Lab used for IR vascular procedures only
- 7 RNs total
- IR Tech + CST paired with Interventionalist
Case Volume:
- IR procedures: 5–8 per day
- CT prep / IV starts: ~50 patients per day
Key Procedures:
- CT/US-guided biopsies (breast, thyroid, general)
- Complex vascular (embolization, PE/DVT thrombectomies – INARI/EKOS)
- Drains (abscess, pleural effusion, paracentesis)
- Pain management injections (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, joints)
- Lines: PICCs, ports, permcaths, tunneled catheters
Responsibilities:
- Pre, intra, post-procedure care
- Moderate sedation monitoring
- High-volume IV starts
- CT/MRI prep (peds & adults)
- Pacemaker patient monitoring
- Communication with providers
- Charting via Radiology Flowsheet
EMR: Allscripts
Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS (peds experience not required)
Experience:
- 1 year IR experience required
- Strong IV skills required
- Open to first-time travelers
- Critical care experience preferred
Scrubs: Royal Blue (Cath Lab: hospital scrubs allowed)
Orientation: Minimum 3 shifts; manager evaluates additional needs
