American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Oncology Med/Surg assignment requiring at least two years of recent oncology experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Position is based in an inpatient oncology unit at a tertiary care hospital
- Primary oncology unit treating all types of cancers in all phases of care, including chemotherapy administration and post-surgical care for uro-gyn and gyn-onc populations
- Caseload includes step-down neuro overflow patients with conditions such as strokes and head bleeds
- Patient ratio is 1:5
- Shift is 3x12 hours, days (6:45–19:15), with 8 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
- Floating may be required to all intermediate areas within the hospital
- Documentation is done in EPIC; completion of EPIC training module prior to start is required
- Responsibilities include administering inpatient chemotherapy, managing ports, central lines, and providing post-op care for surgical oncology patients
- Charge RN duties and holiday shifts may be assigned as needed
- No on-call requirements for this position
- Must adhere to neutropenic and isolation precautions as appropriate
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Maximum of 7 days of requested time off allowed
- No travel partners accepted for this contract
- Successful completion of compliance modules including infusion pump and glucometer training is required before start
- Radiation safety and biotherapy management are part of the role
- Free parking available on site
- Active MO or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent oncology experience with at least 1 year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
- Current BLS certification required
- Skills in IV therapy, administration of blood products, chemo, central line care, pain management, wound care, and oncologic emergencies are required
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation is required
- Must provide 2 professional references from the past year; one must be from a supervisor or higher, and the other may be from a charge RN
- Candidates with home address within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
- Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screening and required modules
