This locum tenens hospitalist position in Minnesota focuses on internal medicine without ICU rounding or ventilator management, primarily handling geographic rounding and day shift admissions. The role involves managing a moderate patient volume with support from advanced practice providers and in-house subspecialists across multiple specialties. The job includes coordinating care, patient/family communication, and documentation during 10-hour day shifts with limited evening cross-coverage and low acuity ICU admissions.
No ICU rounding No Vent management No Procedures Pulm/Crit runs Code Blues Day shift 10 hours Geographic Rounding Rounding volume 12-14 patient encounters inclusive of admissions Admit to geographic floor from 8am until 2pm afternoon for finishing work, talking to patients/families, documentation APP Support to buffer surges Full Sub-specialty support in house Cardiology, Infectious Disease, GI, Heme/Onc, Pulmonary, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Urology, Gynecology, Cardiothoracic, ENT, OMFS, Palliative, Nephrology, Vascular, Neurology, IR, Podiatry, Plastics, Trauma, Colo-Rectal Overnight In House Hospital Medicine, Pulmonary Critical Care, Surgical Critical Care, General Surgery, Trauma All other specialties on call and available PICC line service 8a-8p Swing Shift 2pm-12am, last admit 11pm, cross cover only between 6pm and 8pm only, staffed for 1 admission every 1.5 hours. Low acuity ICU admits only BiPAP, single presser, no vents, can defer to critical care if appropriate. ICU COVID admission done by Pulmonary/Critical Care
