Locum Pediatric Call Coverage
Seeking a Locum Pediatric provider to support inpatient pediatrics, newborn care, ED consults, and stabilization of critical patients. The role primarily focuses on Level II nursery care with minimal call-back volume and a mix of rounding, consults, and emergent response. Coverage is needed while the facility recruits a full-time provider.
Coverage Dates:
1/30: 4-hour morning orientation
2/2 (AM) 2/8 (AM)
Ongoing coverage needed through 2026
Schedule: 24-hour call (7am 7am) with 8 hours of rounding
Average Callbacks: 8.44 weekdays, 6.49 weekends
Serve as Attending Physician for inpatient pediatrics and ED consults
Round on inpatient pediatric patients and newborns in the Family Birth Center
Manage Level II nursery; stabilize and transfer critical patients
Provide neonatal resuscitation support (rarely required at births unless emergent)
Respond to emergencies with 15-minute in-person response time
Average workload:
Level II nursery: 4 6 newborns/day
Pediatric admits: 0 1/day
Pediatric med/surg census: average 1 2 patients (respiratory season higher)
Not required to perform circumcisions
Optional teaching opportunities with residents/students
Setting includes Level II nursery, Level I nursery, ED, Family Birth Center
EMR: Patient Keeper (interfaces with Meditech)
Required Procedures:
Lumbar punctures
Intubations
Umbilical line placement
Neonatal resuscitation
Must be able to perform IVIG
Support & Additional Info:
18-bed ward; majority of work in the Level II nursery
No pediatric ICU on site (critical patients stabilized then transferred)
Neonatology backup from PeaceHealth (Eugene) via phone consults
Dedicated NICU transport team assists with stabilization before transfer
Reason for coverage: Vacancy until a full-time pediatrician is hired
Clinical activity must be included on CV

Local providers preferred; air travel discouraged
