American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery assignment in an acute care setting, requiring a CA RN license and two years of recent L&D experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a 14-bed Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital
- Cares for laboring, induction, cesarean, antepartum, fetal demise, and triage patients of 20 weeks gestation or greater
- Average 3-4 births per day, following AWHONN staffing guidelines
- Unit includes 2 OR suites and triage managed within L&D
- 12-hour night shifts, three shifts per week, with every other weekend required
- One on-call shift required every two weeks
- Uses Cerner EMR and Fetal Link for electronic fetal monitoring
- Pulse oximeters used routinely; RNs interpret monitor strips for magnesium sulfate patients
- Responsibilities include management of laboring patients, frequent triage, titrating critical medications, and preparing for or assisting in cesarean deliveries
- Supported by a free Charge RN and one OB Tech per shift
- Obstetrician/Neonatologist present in-house 24/7
- One-day unit-specific orientation provided
- Light blue scrubs are provided each shift
- Must cover one major and two minor holidays during assignment
- First to float if needed, though current assignment has no floating required
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facilities within the past year
- RNs must pass a sterile technique skills test and may need to complete a dysrhythmia exam specific to the region
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years recent labor and delivery nursing experience
- Experience with titrating drips including Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium
- Two professional references, including one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last three years
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
