This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

12-hour shifts with the option to pick up extra shifts. Every other weekend is required, and holiday work is expected.

Job Description

The Med-Surg Telemetry RN will provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced acute medical/surgical telemetry unit. The nurse will be responsible for applying, interpreting, and actively responding to telemetry readings and caring for a diverse patient population, including post-operative orthopedics, urology, GI, COPD, CHF, and more.

Responsibilities

• Apply and interpret telemetry readings and respond accordingly.
• Perform NG tube insertion and peripheral IV insertion.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to provide seamless patient care.
• Engage with patients and their families regarding care and placement needs.
• Work with advanced practice providers and ancillary staff to enhance patient outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with at least 1 year in a telemetry specialty.
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (to be completed before starting).
• Telemetry certification is preferred.
• Prior travel experience is required; candidates must have completed at least two assignments in 300+ bed facilities or have experience in an UVMHN acute care facility.
• Epic experience within the past two years is required.
