St. Mary's Medical Group and St. Mary's Health Care System (SMHCS) have an excellent full time employment opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Neurology physician to join an established practice located in Athens, Georgia with a planned start date in 2027.

The selected physician will join two Neurologists in this 100% outpatient practice that is committed to true clinical excellence in patient care, providing medical treatment which is grounded in progressive, evidence-based medicine, and utilizing the most current innovations and technologies. This practice is passionate about caring for the person as a whole: mind, body and spirit. Neurologists and staff strive to promote the highest level of functioning for every patient by addressing each individuals needs with compassion and kindness. Inpatient neurology care is provided by a full-time team of neurohospitalists, and have a full-time RN stroke coordinator on staff.

Teaching opportunities with area medical students are also available.

Experienced physicians as well as those who will be completing training are encouraged to apply.

St. Mary's has been a leader in Neuroscience care from the introduction of our region's first medical CT scanner in 1973 to implementation of part-time mechanical thrombectomy services in 2017.

St. Mary's has been continuously certified by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center since 2004, has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines Gold-Plus Award for stroke care 10 years in a row, and has been named to the Target:Stroke honor roll eight years in a row. All three of the hospitals provide 24/7 emergency diagnostics and Alteplace administration, with neurohospitalist coverage at St. Mary's Hospital Athens and REACH telehealth specialist supplementation 24/7 at all hospitals.
