American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Labor & Delivery position requiring 3-5 years of recent high-risk experience and the ability to circulate and provide newborn care.
Responsibilities- Position is located in a high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 beds and 4 operating rooms
- Average daily census of 15 and 500-600 deliveries per month
- Night shifts, 3x12 hours per week from 19:00 to 07:30
- Must work every other weekend and cover holidays as needed
- Expected to float to Postpartum, Antepartum, and sister Mother/Baby facilities as required
- Utilizes Epic EMR system
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- Duties include circulating in the OR, providing newborn care immediately after delivery, and administering medications such as heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
- Unit serves a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OBs, substance recovery support, and community care clinics
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Work schedule is posted every 6 weeks and may adjust to meet unit needs
- Minimal to no RTO is accepted; pre-approved time off is considered on a case-by-case basis
- All travelers may be required to float among facilities within Washington State
- Holiday coverage is required as needed
- Candidates must be able to pass a clinical review for consideration
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 3-5 years current Labor & Delivery nursing experience in a high-acuity and fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated high-risk Labor & Delivery experience required
- Ability to circulate and function as a Baby Nurse during delivery, providing NB care including eyes, thighs, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last three years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Must provide proof of required certifications and active Nursys verification
- Experience with electronic fetal monitoring required
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, or AWHONN Intermediate
- Former perm staff must be separated for at least 3 months and live outside a 50-mile radius
