Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality primary nursing care to patients in the Patient Care Unit (PCU)
  • Assess, monitor, and document patient condition and respond to changes in clinical status
  • Serve as the primary nurse in a rural Critical Access Hospital setting, coordinating care and resources
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient-centered plans
  • Administer treatments and medications safely and accurately, following protocols and best practices
  • Educate patients and families about conditions, care plans, and discharge instructions
  • Participate in handoffs and maintain clear, concise documentation to support continuity of care

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado, or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) — may be obtained upon hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN
  • Comfort and ability to safely function in a high-elevation environment (~8,000 ft)
  • Experience or comfort working nights and in a rural/critical access hospital is strongly preferred

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Patient care and primary nursing in a PCU setting
  • Interdisciplinary teamwork and communication
  • Ability to triage, prioritize, and manage acutely changing patients
  • Familiarity with rural hospital workflows and resource-limited environments
  • Comfort working 12-hour night shifts and maintaining vigilance across long shifts
  • Basic pediatric assessment skills (PALS-trained)
