American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU night shift position requiring a WA or compact RN license and strong pediatric critical care skills.
Responsibilities- Position is in the PICU at a hospital with Level 2 Trauma capabilities and 16 PICU beds
- Patient population includes respiratory (high flow, CPAP, BiPAP), trachs, chemo, MIS-C, new onset diabetes, chronically ill, oncology, trauma, post-surgical, and neuro cases
- No care for solid organ transplants, major burns, stem cell transplants, or severe trauma cases
- Shift is 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week
- Floating to MedSurg, NICU (low acuity), or as helping hands in the ED may be required
- EMR system is Epic, and experience with Epic is preferred
- On-call only if low census, with a 1-hour response time
- Responsibilities include comprehensive care for a variety of pediatric critical cases involving respiratory, trauma, medical, surgical, and chronically ill patients
- Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team in a unit with beds interchangeable between MedSurg and PICU
- Holiday coverage expectations are 1-2 holidays during the contract
- Any color scrubs may be worn, but no hooded shirts and long sleeves must be able to be pulled above the elbow; spirit wear permitted on Fridays during football season
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Occasional on-call only if census is low
- Active WA or compact state RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of PICU experience
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Demonstrated ability to use aseptic and sterile techniques, ventilator and trach management, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, drip and Foley management, CRRT (Prismax preferred), and strong assessment skills
- Must pass Traveler Telemetry Competency
- Epic EMR experience preferred
