This position seeks a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to provide night coverage in a stepdown pediatric intensive care unit at a children's hospital in Central Ohio. The role involves managing pediatric patients requiring advanced critical care, performing specialized procedures, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team using Epic EMR. The assignment is ongoing with a consistent night schedule, requiring relevant certifications and experience in pediatric critical care.
We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to provide locum services in a pediatric critical care/stepdown setting in Central Ohio.
This is an excellent opportunity for an APP with advanced pediatric critical care experience looking for consistent night coverage with potential for ongoing placement.
Job Details:
Specialty: Pediatric Critical Care Stepdown PICU
Setting: Children s Hospital, Stepdown PICU Unit
Schedule:
Night shifts (6:00 PM 6:00 AM)
3 shifts per week (12 hours each)
Includes weekends and holidays
No call required
Contract Length: Ongoing (locum assignment with potential extension)
Unit Details: 24-bed stepdown PICU shared between two APPs at night
Patient Population: Pediatric patients, high volume of pulmonary cases
Team Support: Collaborative environment with physicians and APPs
Charting Software: Epic
Responsibilities:
Provide inpatient pediatric critical care in a stepdown PICU setting
Perform advanced procedures including intubation and arterial line placement
Monitor and manage pediatric patients requiring stepdown-level intensive care
Document and update patient records in Epic EMR
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure optimal outcomes
Requirements:
Active Ohio NP license (required)
Board Certification: Acute Care Certified (required)
DEA certification (required)
Experience with Epic EMR (required)
Minimum experience: Proficiency in pediatric critical care skills
Ability to work independently in a stepdown PICU setting
Credentialing:
Estimated timeframe: 30 days
Must be able to start within 30 days of offer acceptance
All onboarding documents must be submitted promptly
