Float Nurse - HICU/BHU/LTC Vent Unit

ScheduleNight shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30); Every other weekend required.
Job DescriptionThe Float Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, floating between the HICU, BHU, and Burk 2 units, providing care for patients requiring close monitoring, frequent interventions, and specialized support. The role requires a strong understanding of complex medical conditions, including but not limited to respiratory, cardiac, renal, and gastrointestinal disorders.
Responsibilities- Provide nursing care to stable yet critically ill patients needing intermediate care.
- Monitor and manage patients with conditions such as pneumonia, sepsis, and acute respiratory failure.
- Utilize specialty equipment such as ventilators, telemetry, and central lines.
- Implement clinical nursing interventions and develop patient care plans.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including physical therapy and respiratory services.
- Assist with medication management and rehabilitation activities for patients in the BHU.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using Cerner charting system.
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience required.
- ACLS and BLS certification required.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and ventilator management strongly preferred.
- Must possess a valid Maryland or Compact nursing license at the time of submission.
- Previous charge experience is preferred but not mandatory.
