American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position requiring AZ or compact licensure and strong cardiac drips skills.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Telemetry Float Pool covering acute care hospital units with Level 1 trauma exposure
- Nurses float between all Telemetry and MedSurg units as well as ICUs, Cardiac Tele, observation, Cath Lab, Emergency, and holding areas across Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses
- Patient types include post-cath lab, post-vascular procedures, day 2 CABG, general telemetry, neuro post-surgical, spine, CVA, surgical, oncology, and ortho
- Telemetry units use centralized monitoring and require EKG interpretation; cardiac titration drips are required
- MedSurg units use GE Monitors and cover general MedSurg with tele, surgical, ortho, urological, and abdominal cases
- Typical shift is 12 hours (7-7), with four weekend shifts per schedule and required coverage of two out of three major holidays
- Charting is done using Cerner EMR
- Responsible for floating and providing care to a wide range of patient populations and acuity levels as needed
- Floating may occur between campuses during or between shifts and notification will be provided 1.5 hours prior to shift start
- Support services available include charge nurses, clinical supervisors, PCTs, RT and pharmacy 24/7
- Floor-specific orientation provided (2 days/shifts depending on unit)
- Navy scrubs are required
- Hospitalist support available; no in-house IV team but SWAT nurse for challenging IV starts
- First time travelers are not excluded from consideration
- Active, in-hand AZ or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Proven ability to titrate cardiac drips and interpret EKGs
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract (maximum 2 attempts allowed)
- Successful completion of a pass/fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation is required
- Must provide a copy of driver's license for employment verification
- Two professional references: one supervisor within the last year, one peer or supervisor within the last three years with employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Candidates cannot have been employed directly (FT, PT, or PRN) by CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity in the past year
