Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Stepdown Telemetry position requiring a WV or compact license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care hospital setting on the 7W Stepdown unit
- Unit consists of 32 beds: 12 Stepdown and 20 MedSurg 'Floor' beds
- Typical patient population includes MedSurg cases, chest pain, COPD, AMS, pneumonia, UTI, abdominal pain, and hospice patients
- Stepdown nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3; MedSurg floor ratio is 1:4-6
- Telemetry monitoring is required; RNs collaborate with monitor techs and must read telemetry strips
- Drip titration required in Stepdown; floor receives PCAs and heparin
- Night shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Floating to any floor or stepdown unit may be required
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Royal blue scrubs are required
- Main responsibilities include providing Stepdown and MedSurg level care, monitoring telemetry, and titrating drips
- Support structure includes a dedicated charge nurse and an available house supervisor
- Travelers may be required to work holidays in line with staff schedules
- Previous permanent employees or travelers at the facility/system must have a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers cannot work within the health system for more than one year at a time; a two-year break is then required
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Assignment requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary care team
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered WV or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience
- Current BLS certification required
- Driver’s license address must be outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- COVID-19 vaccination required unless medical or religious exemption documentation is approved
- Must pass EKG testing for Stepdown unit consideration at some facilities
