Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a flexible, high-demand overflow unit requiring a NY RN license and 1 year of MS/Tele experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 14-bed med/surg telemetry overflow unit designed to accommodate ED boarder patients
- Unit is a flex space within the GI Endoscopy area with fluctuating patient numbers
- Day shifts with a 3x12 hour schedule from 7:00 to 19:00
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Float to other units as needed
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Responsible for care of patients boarded from the ED with varying acuity
- Required to manage rapid changes in patient census based on demand
- Minimal time off requests allowed with block scheduling considered but not guaranteed
- Scrub colors are navy blue or white
- First-time travelers are accepted and encouraged to apply
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required at time of submission
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum of 1 year recent MS/Tele RN experience
- Competency in IV placement, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience with peripheral line care, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Previous charge RN experience preferred
- No local candidates within 75 miles will be considered
